Taking the Heat
Heat from the Scott Engineering Data Center is used to help heat the entire building during the winter months. In a "typical" year, the University saves enough in reduced heating costs to offset the costs of cooling the data center during the warmer months.Without this "energy recycling" capability, it would cost UNL $24,000/year to cool the data center!
UNL can save even more on energy costs if more servers are relocated to the SEC Data Center.
