Telecom Rates
In December of last year, Information Services Telecommunications was asked to submit a preliminary rate schedule for telephone services to the campus. Given the emerging economic and budget realities, the rates that we submitted were intended to be as close to revenue neutral as possible to the entire campus.
In addition, we offered the possibility of being able to pass along savings in long distance rates to the campus. As part of this process, Telecommunications also looked for ways to simplify and streamline the campus telephone service offerings by looking at ways to bundle services, features, and equipment in a more convenient and efficient manner It should be noted that our ability to lower some rates and keep others at or near a revenue neutral level was due in part to favorable negotiations with our vendors for hardware, software, service rates, and maintenance agreements.
